Jared and Monica’s story began at a country saloon where mutual friends had taken them for a night out. Both not knowing many of the line dances, they kept off the dance floor. Jared took this chance to notice how pretty Monica was and quiet like himself, while Monica kept thinking how gorgeous Jared’s blue eyes were. Standing on the sidelines only suited Monica so long before she pulled Jared onto the dance floor. “I’m sure I surprised him a little, but he was a good sport.” By the end of the night, the two had talked, danced, and exchanged numbers.
Jared and Monica kept running into each other over the next year and finally went on their first date on Valentine’s Day of 2015. Obviously, it went very well. By that time the next year, Jared was getting ready to propose. “For a couple months, I had planned the proposal. I wanted it at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. I wanted to have all our immediate family in Las Vegas there with some close friends. I had large signs I made that said “WILL YOU MARRY,” and I had a T-shirt made from a friend. The shirt had our names on the back and the date of the proposal with a large heart on the front and the word “ME” in the center. I was able to hide my shirt with a zip up sweater.”
Finally, the day had arrived. Jared took Monica on a picnic outing, and after walking around a bit, he guided her to the field where everyone waited. “As we got closer, I felt Monica grab my hand tightly and she started to gasp and breathe harder. She put her other hand over her mouth in disbelief. She was saying my name, questioning what was going on and if it was intended for her. It was. My family had all the signs up, and they were all huddled together waiting for us.”
Jared could barely ask the question before Monica was saying yes.
